ACMF celebrates first annual awards

The ACMF pulled off its first annual awards program at the ritzy Oceana Restaurant at Rockefeller Center on November 16th, honoring Mike Henry, Jamaica’s Minister of Transport & Mining; and Dr. Grantley Stephenson, CEO, Kingston Wharves in Jamaica.

Attending the by-invitation-only event were Caribbean and Chinese diplomats, maritime executives, and corporate executives. The event was sponsored by the law firm of Montgomery McCracken, represented by Richard Scheff, Esq., CEO of the firm.

ACMF President, Dr. Geneive Brown Metzger, used the occasion to announce a $50,000 donation by Roland Malins-Smith, founder of Sea Freight Shipping in Miami. The donation is the first tranche of a $150,000 gift. In addition, the event managed to raise over $20,000 in pledges and matching gifts, an effort led by ACMF board member, James Luce, President of the James L. Dudley Luce Foundation.

The following day, the Minister and his wife, Mrs. Dawn Henry, and Dr. Brown Metzger were the guest of ACMF board member Jan Ivarsson at a private dinner and cocktail reception in Greenwich, CT at the Riverside Yacht Club.
